How to colorize black & white pattern in Photoshop.
Technique 1.

Make new layer. Select and fill some area with one of the black and white patterns.
Make a new layer on top of the patterns layer. Fill it with desired color.
  Group this layer with previous –
Alt + click between layer in Layers palette.

  Change blending mode of the layer filled with color to any other mode than normal. Experiment with different modes and opacity. Here are results of mode changes with 100% opacity:

Darken, Multiply, Linear Burn
change white


Hard Light, Pin Light, Linear Light
change white

Lighten, Screen, Linear Dodge
change black

Difference and Exclusion
change both colors

 
Technique 2.

This technique will let you change black color (only) to any color you like.

Make new layer. Select and fill some area with one of the patterns.
  Press Alt and click on New Adjustment layer button in Layers palette. Do not let go of left mouse button and select Hue/Saturation. In dialog window check Group with Previous Layer checkbox, leave the rest of settings default (Mode: Normal, Opacity 100%). Press OK.

You could access this feature by going to Image > Adjust > Hue/Saturation, but using Adjustment layer reserves you an option to edit it later.

  In Hue/Saturation dialog window first check Colorize checkbox. Experiment with settings. Here are some samples:

Hue: 220
Saturation: 50
Lightness: +50


Hue: 100
Saturation: 30
Lightness: +70

Hue: 0
Saturation: 100
Lightness: +30

Hue: 30
Saturation: 100
Lightness: -50
